Yogi’s Design
A luxury woodland cabin for two. With a secluded deck for swimming, yoga and time in nature
Every element of Yogis Cabin is bespoke and carefully crafted — handmade using locally sourced materials, celebrating natural processes and skilled making. This approach creates a healthy, restful environment that feels balanced, grounding, and deeply connected to nature, enriching the guest experience.
Yogis Cabin is designed around a central yoga studio, placing movement, stillness and light at the heart of the architecture. Oriented east to west, the space is defined by the daily passage of the sun — rising through a stand of alder trees to the east and setting over the spring-fed natural pond to the west. Large openings frame these moments, grounding the experience of the cabin in its immediate landscape.
Materials are natural and tactile throughout: wood fibre insulation, bespoke tiles developed with Common Objects, and handmade organic cotton curtains designed as part of the interior scheme.
Designed by award-winning architectural practice Built Works — whose directors founded Architects Holiday to realise and share a design ethos rooted in responsible, simple construction — the cabin is conceived as a quiet, crafted intervention within the woodland.
Externally, a continuous engawa wraps the building, mediating between interior and forest. The structure is clad in locally sourced larch, charred to deepen its connection to the surrounding trees. Internally, the exposed structure is formed from Douglas fir sourced from slow-grown forests in the Scottish Borders, selected for its strength and clarity. Internal linings use locally milled Douglas fir from the adjacent Powder Mills woodland.
