Design Info

  • About The Architect

    Built Works

Built Works is a RIBA chartered architecture and design practice founded in 2020 with a vision to combine cutting edge technology with environmentalism.

  • Design Concept

The design of Bather’s Cabin specifically references the vernacular of the traditional granaries and grain stores found throughout the south east of England which are typically small square structures elevated on stone footings to keep produce safe from vermin. Defined by their angular/square shape and dark black cladding, in this interpretation the roof has been removed to reduce visual impact.

  • Materials

Bather’s Cabin is constructed from timber and insulated with UK grown hemp. Externally, pine tar stained cladding references the black agricultural buildings on the farm and allows it to blend into it’s shaded context amongst the trees.
