Cabin Info.

  • About.

Designed for the intrepid at heart, our forest cabin is meticulously crafted for the daring adventurer and curious explorer within you.

Being half cabin / half yurt, the cabin wills you to spent time in the great outdoors. (Wood chopping is optional but highly encouraged).

  • Inside.

Inside, you'll find a space thoughtfully designed to accommodate your gear and your spirit of exploration. With maps adorning the walls and artifacts from far-flung journeys, the cabin inspires both dreams of epic quests and modest ventures to the fire pit with a bag of marshmallows and a torch.

A mezzanine provides a cosy sleeping platform akin to a traditional A-frame and a compact camp kitchen has all the trendy kit you’ve dreamed.

  • Outside.

A luxury bathroom annex is accessed outside via a small walkway to conjure childhood memories of rainy camping holiday’s. Oh how you will smile.

Design Info

  • About The Architect

    Built Works

Built Works is a RIBA chartered architecture and design practice founded in 2020 with a vision to combine cutting edge technology with environmentalism.

  • Design Concept

The design of Explorer’s Cabin references the vernacular of temporary and transient structures found within rural environments such as yurts and shepherds huts. Typically defined by their singular open plan living space and often formed by several communal structures in a camp like arrangement. In this interpretation, the materiality of a yurt is combined with a twist on the form of a shepherds hut.

With the bathroom intentionally externalised, the cabin forces you to engage with the great outdoors every time you need the loo, much like your ancestors did :)

  • Materials

Explorer’s cabin will be constructed from timber and canvas. Externally, stone weights provide a practical nod to vernacular cabins and huts of years gone by, where they were used to hold down thatch.
